Die Krone in Staufen

Horrible experience, but I guess this is what's called "German hospitality"!?!? We went to the restaurant to celebrate my mother in law's birthday. I ordered a Lemongrass soup that was on the menu, deliberately and desperately looking for a dish without dairy. Menu indicated none of this btw (which is a pretty standard practice these days pretty much anywhere else due to high allergens) and getting attention from of our server to be able to ask was really at the bare minimum. I made an educated guess. Turns out, the exotic food that I ordered (which is made with coconut milk in any other place) is made with rich cream in this joint, so I asked the server NICELY if I could have my meal replaced as I was unable to consume dairy. What followed next, I've never experienced in my entire life at a restaurant. I was SCOLDED in a raised voice for not letting her know about my dairy-free needs. Not only that, but my mother in law had to pay for both meals, because the restaurant and the server couldn't do their jobs. If I had a severe enough allergy, I could have ended up in hospital, or worse, dead! This practice MUST change before anyone gets seriously sick or hurt but as far as the overcharge goes, I guess I can forget about getting a refund for an unconsumed meal... Your business wouldn't survive a day in Canada like this.

Well run hotel. Perfect service. The food was good.

Top service, wonderful ambience and the food is a dream. It is worth stopping here. Anyone who has looked too deeply into the wine list is sure to get a place to sleep.

The vegetarian menu was very tasty. I can recommend it.

Sophisticated cuisine, freshness and quality of ingredients, sound advice for wines, elegant service! The welcome at 8:30 pm is delicate in Germany, it is advisable to dine early.

Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio was no longer right for us after 4 visits. At 9pm we were unfortunately asked to go through the flower. With a 5 course menu ...

Our favorite hotel in Staufen for many years. Nice rooms, great hosts and excellent cuisine. Whoever comes here will feel comfortable. The hotel car park is a real experience, especially for shunting drivers ...

Really unique thanks to the vegetarian menu! For all vegetarians who want to have a really good meal, the Krone is Staufen exactly the right thing. Because a vegetarian menu is missing in 99% of the “upscale restaurants”, it's a shame. As a guest, you feel like you're in good hands here, whether you're a veggie or not!

You have to go to Staufen, this village is really adorable and very typical.

We had the absolutely delicious September menu. Excellent cooked and friendly and courteous service. There wasn't a long wait between courses. The double room is very spacious and has a very modern bathroom. Nothing to complain about at breakfast either. I would love to come back here.

Very, very tasty. Sufficient even if you do not take a menu. Here is also prepared on request something which is not to be found on the map. For example: a very tasty garlic soup that was still available last year was served again on request. Hats off.

Love this family owned gem of a hotel. Clean, exceptionally well run with lovely meals and all of the fine touches one expects when they travel. Truly a great hotel experience. Spotlessly clean with lots of,little extras and warm and friendly family who serve with great care and love to all guests.

In the crown you can eat very well. I was here last night and tried the new Krone menu for January. Everything was right. First, there was a greeting from the kitchen, it was a little soup, then you could choose between a salsify soup or a cooked Scottish salmon fillet. As a main course there was a pink roasted veal hips and as a dessert Apfelkuechle. Everything was perfect. The whole menu including 0.5 liters of water and 0.25 liters of Pinot Gris you get for 36 euros. Of course, there are also other delicious dishes. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Friendly staff and gracious inn keeper hostess. We did not have a reservation, they were very busy at the supper hour and the hostess owner settled us into a very cozy room. Delicious meals in family friendly environment. Cannot wait to return.

We loved this hotel and little town. We wish we had stayed just one night. We had a wonderful meal in the hotel right after we arrived. We drove here and was able to have a parking lot right in the back of the hotel. The space is limited so you need to reserve early and make sure. Otherwise, it is possible to park in a public parking somewhere else. The kids sharing a room of 3 bed with a cute little balcony with a view to the town. The staff were very friendly. On next day we are leaving, we found a bakery store and bought some bakery and Black Forest cake to enjoy on the following trip. We asked if they have some recycled utensil we can use on the road, they managed to find some and ran to us while we almost drove out. This is also a very lovely town and friendly people. We definitely will visit and stay longer if we have a chance in the future.

I had a great experience at the Krone, the food and the staff were great! The next time I visit Germany again I will stay at the Krone.
